You already know what you need to do- throw away the whole lot of them and start from scratch- but suddenly, there’s a confusing amount of new brands showing up in banner ads and podcasts, claiming technological breakthroughs and superior design innovations that seem beyond the capabilities of such a simple garment. It’s a big task, and yet, if you’re anything like most men, your underwear drawer looks like a flea market. After all, your undies are your first line of defense between the most sensitive parts of your body and the outside world good underwear must protect against chafing, regulate temperature, move with your body, and maintain a clean and dry environment during a hectic day of activity. Those Jockey underwear would hold heat in them that I'm sure would drive them absolute nuts.While it shouldn’t be too controversial to say your underwear is your single most important piece of clothing, far too many of us don’t act that way. Even worse would be an overweight person. They do seem to have new products out now.īut I've used my Jockey 80% Polyester underwear so many times now. It's possible they've made their waistbands better. The Exofficio underwear will last years but will start to get a little loose in the waistband after a couple of years. They won't lose their shape/form like a pair of 100% cotton underwear though. The only problem with the Exofficio is that they won't last forever like the Jockey boxer briefs. They don't trap heat like the Jockeys, they won't hold backteria/stink, and they feel great. The best pair of underwear that I've experienced is Exofficio.
Jockey didn't create a special form of Polyester or something. If you had to take a 2 day flight somewhere and had to wear those Jockey boxer briefs for a 2 day period, at the end of the 2nd day that underwear would STANK. It holds bacteria/stink to them so easily. Performance wise? Those Jockeys are the worst pair of underwear I own. I have a pair from several years ago and it looks brand new essentially.
Cotton rips where the hell it pleases and I find must simply be replaced.Īs of this time, I will be avoiding cotton boxer briefs. At most, my polyester ones rip at a seam and is easily repaired. I've gone through 3 generations now of cotton (various brands, too), while still wearing the polyester. They feel better and are cooler than any underwear I've ever worn, by FAR, and they also last far longer. I don't know how 93% polyester would fare, but my favorite boxer briefs are the Jockey 80% polyester/20% spandex. It may be true cotton is often more breathable in general, but each have pros and cons. But I want to clarify that material itself isn't all there is. I find myself here looking up historic prices. So they are basically the same as Exofficio's in terms of performance and construction. I've never owned Duluth Buck Naked Performance Boxer Briefs but they are comprised of 93% nylon and 7% spandex. They have great breathability and have anti-odor treatment capabilities. Theirs is comprised of 90% Nylon and 10% Elastane. One of the most popular mens boxer briefs which gets rave reviews are Exofficio's boxer briefs. That means it holds onto bacteria/stink, heat, etcĬotton breaths very well and doesn't have this issue like Polyester.
So these boxers use 93% polyester which is a terrible substance for breathability. You can just look at the materials used in the construction to get an idea of its performance.
